Practising safe sex is essential for men who have sex with men, as it helps reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV. Using condoms correctly and consistently during anal, oral, sex provides significant protection against most STIs, including HIV. It’s also important to use lubricant to minimise friction and prevent condom breakage, especially during anal sex.

Regular STI testing is strongly recommended, particularly if you have multiple partners or engage in condomless sex. PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis),  PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) and vaccinations are available to help you stay safe.

Condoms

  • Free latex condoms can be collected from any of our clinics - just ask one of our friendly receptionists for a pack (please note packs contain assorted sizes).

  • PEP (Post-exposure prophylaxis) - is a pill that can reduce the risk of getting HIV after exposure. More information about PEP, including what to do if you think you have been exposed to HIV, can be found on our PEP page.
  • PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis) - is a pill that is taken as part of a regime to prevent HIV infection in those who are at a higher risk of exposure to the virus. More information, including if it’s right for you and how to access PrEP from our clinics can be found on our PrEP page.

Our clinics provide various sexual health related vaccinations for at-risk groups. Visit our Vaccinations page for information about the vaccines we offer, including eligibility and how to book in to your local clinic.

Male sexual abuse refers to any unwanted or non-consensual sexual act committed against a male, whether in childhood or adulthood.

Approximately 1 in 6 males will experience an unwanted or abusive sexual experience in their lifetime, although this figure is likely to be higher due to the high number of cases that are unreported.

If you have been or are suffering abuse, we are here to help. Our clinics and services can be accessed by calling 0300 008 5522, messaging our Chat Sexual Health service on 07312263535 or by attending your closest clinic for support.
